Before our week 2-4 discussion the ECMWF issued a month 1-6 ahead outlook for Europe today. The mid-summer outlook is a bit scary as July is forecast somewhat hotter and drier than normal across Southern Europe to Ukraine.

The Climate Impact Company week 2-4 outlook for Europe identifies lingering chill next week across Eastern Europe and Western Russia caused by a strong -AO/-NAO pattern. The -AO/-NAO pattern breaks down later next week and the following week turns warmer and is dry in Western Russia to Eastern Europe and Southwest Europe. The week 4 ahead forecast valid into early June indicates widespread anomalous warmth and dryness except temperatue in Southern Europe.
