Pictured: Today’s Climate Impact Company day 6-10/11-15 temperature anomaly forecast indicates some warming in the Great Plains.
More rain in the central Great Plains the next couple days expanding into the East late week and weekend. The latest late season freeze is affecting the northeast quadrant of the U.S. The late season blocking pattern in the high latitudes represented by one of the strongest negative phase of the arctic oscillation on record for springtime and causing the cold and rain finally eases in the 6-10 day period. At that time the eastern chill fades and some warming evolves in the Great Plains featuring 80’s central and southern Plains with drier weather. The new cold pattern develops in the western states. The western chill means an evolving upper trough which eventually shifts east and opens the Gulf of Mexico for a southerly inflow of moist air into the Great Plains in the 11-15 day period when the rains return and warmth slowly fades while shifting eastward.
