The Climate Impact Company analog forecast for ENSO phase through summer of 2018 indicates no significate ENSO signature as neutral ENSO prevails. The latest NMME global SSTA forecast for DEC/JAN/FEB 2017-18 also indicates neutral ENSO in the equatorial East Pacific. Although current diagnostics maintain a warm PDO the NMME forecast indicates a flip to the cool phase by wintertime. The warm AMO regime remains dominant through next winter. Given neutral ENSO the middle latitude SSTA patterns will offer increased influence on climate patterns for the northern hemisphere through the cold season.
