Pictured: The Climate Impact Company medium/extended-range forecast of temperature anomalies across the U.S. is indicated.
The focus of rainfall is driven largely by the tropics based on today’s medium-range precipitation outlooks. In the short-term Harvey moves inland and an upper trough shears the attendant heavy rain into the Tennessee Valley missing the key growing areas in the Midwest. Leftover rains linger in the East early in the 6-10 day period. The Central/East-Central U.S. is cooler than normal in the 6-10 day period and the cool anomaly shifts to the Mid-South in the 11-15 day period. More wet weather driven by tropical risk is indicated on the Eat Coast and the Gulf region into the extended-range while areas to the north are dry.
