Pictured: Depiction of Irma location as forecast by the ECMWF model.
The just-arrived ECMWF model is similar in theme to the GFS and tropical cyclone models with a north turn from near Cuba to the southeast Florida coast late Sunday morning as a major hurricane, drifting north along the Florida Coast later Sunday and offshore again before making a second landfall near Savannah, GA Monday late afternoon still possibly a major hurricane. The ECM is similar to the GFS tracking Irma inland across the central Appalachians Tuesday when the storm weakens considerably and then north into the eastern Great Lakes region Wednesday.
