Pictured: The Climate Impact Company medium/extended-range rainfall anomaly forecast for the U.S. is indicated.
Forecast confidence is low however there’s bound to be a pattern change caused by Irma surging into the middle latitudes early-to-middle next week. The likely scenario is a warm ridge pattern sets up northwest of Irma affecting the North-Central U.S. next week. During that time a cool trough evolves in southwest Canada and pushing into the mean ridge causes a cold front to evolve with attendant rains. In the 6-10 day period the rainfall arrives over previously hot and dry Montana. In the 11-15 day period the rain shifts east crossing the Midwest with possible heavy rain in Illinois. A broad Interior West trough is indicated days 16-20 supporting a showery pattern that extends to the Great Plains.
