- As cold as it is now the THUE/FRI arctic outbreak into Northeast Corridor is stronger.
- Plenty of lake-effect snow.
- Some wet weather into coastal northwest midweek.
Day 6 to 10 Outlook (Jan. 6-10, 2018): Cold eases.
- Cold start East but moderating late period.
- Increasing Pacific influence mid-to-late period.
- Mild-to-warm West/Southwest.
- Storm track emerges mainly late period in West.
Day 11-15 Outlook (Jan. 11-15, 2018): MJO-inspired warming.
- All excessive cold is gone.
- Large-scale climate (MJO and stratosphere) support a milder climate pattern.
- Central U.S. rain/snow, no major storms.
