Madden Julian oscillation is in the tropical Indian Ocean and forecast to regain strength over the next few days and next week. The event will enhance tropical rainfall in the tropical/subtropical Indian Ocean and eventually push the heavy rains into India. Some of the heavy rain can affect far southern India and extreme northeast portions into early next week. However, in the 8-14 day period heavy rains across the Bay of Bengal indicate increased risk of heavy rains to the eastern India coastal region. Meanwhile the heaviest rain is off the southwest coast of India and some of that rain will stretch across southwest to south-central India.
