Trend Toward El Nino is Reversing

Trends of the subsurface equatorial East Pacific temperature pattern foreshadows ENSO phase ahead. Through quarter 1 of 2017 steady warming was observed raising the risk of El Nino. However, April has produced a steadily cooler east-central equatorial East Pacific while surface temperatures have cooled to neutral phase.
