Pictured: The Climate Impact Company medium/extended-range rainfall anomaly forecasts.
In the 6-10 day period a strong cold front is forecast to chug across the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and Interior Northeast bringing brief but potentially substantial rainfall early next week. Most of the rain appears to be just north of the corn/soybean crop areas. Forecast models vary on the intensity of the cold front so further adjustments to the forecast are likely. The 11-15 day period is also a low confidence forecast. Best estimate is that a wet Mexico Monsoon will extend attendant showers/thunderstorms northward across the Great Plains although precipitation is generally scattered. The Southwest is the wet zone in the extended-range.
