Discussion: In the medium-range the Midwest is likely temperate and wet while most of the rest of the U.S. is hotter than normal particularly the Interior Northwest U.S. to northern Great Plains. During the 6-10 day period the West is dry enhancing the hot weather source region. In the 11-15 day period the Interior Northwest heat strengthens into the Great Plains. The Central U.S. is dry in the extended-range. In the 11-15 day period showers/thunderstorms emerge in the Southwest U.S. as the wet monsoon arrives.
