We’re looking at pattern change across the U.S. as a La Nina-like appearance to the climate evolves. Likely caused by the presence of Irma and later Jose the U.S. trends warmer and drier in the southern U.S. while previously dry ad hot Northwest States reverse cooler and wetter. Although La Nina is not present the equatorial East Pacific is trending in that direction rapidly. The wet/cool Northwest and warmer pattern in the South and East is a classic La Nina climate signature. The Great Plains are also warm in this new pattern with Northwest rains occasionally extending across the northern Plains to the Midwest.
