Days 6-10/11-15 commentary: In the 6-10 day period the East remains warm although the Northeast is adjusted slightly cooler. In the West, the chill eases slightly. In the 11-15 day period the Northwest is marginal cold while the East is marginally warm.
Days 16-20 commentary: Turning colder West while the East is very warm to start February.
Stratosphere commentary: The ECM and GFS indicate stratospheric warming BEGINNING late in the 11-15 day period over northwest North America. If this warming carries through days 16-20 a new arctic air mass in Canada will form. The ECM ENS shows arctic air in western Canada by days 14-15.
