El Nino onset is likely by December 1 and causes a roaring warm start to meteorological winter. The January forecast is still chilly in the East anticipating an El Nino Modoki although the trend is toward a more conventional El Nino which causes a less chilly revision for mid-winter.
The big chill shifts into the East during the medium/extended-range.
Strong El Nino is brewing while European drought lingers on.
Developing and deepening snow cover across Quebec will lead to a cooler pattern change in the East U.S.
