Rolling Australian Excessive Heat

Stunningly warm sea surface temperature anomalies (SSTA) are located east of Australia while a persistent cool pool of SSTA remain west-northwest of Australia. The SSTA signature is reflected in the prevailing upper air pattern featuring ominous upper trough(s) off the Indian Ocean and into Western Australia running into a powerful subtropical ridge extending westward from the warm SSTA zone. These conditions produce an intense transitional hot weather event for the weekend and early next week in Australia.
